A man responsible for the rape of a child has been jailed for eight years on Wednesday 19th April.
Ross MuirRoss Muir (36) was found guilty, at the High Court in Edinburgh in March, of raping an 11-year-old girl.
The incident happened in the west of Edinburgh on 11th October 2015 in Muir’s car after he had communicated with his intended victim via social media on her mobile telephone.

A woman who became trapped in the Devil’s Pulpit gorge has been rescued. Mountain rescuers were scrambled to Finnich Glen after her companion called 999 on Wednesday. The woman had descended into the 70ft gorge near Loch Lomond but found it was too slippery to get out. Members of the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team abseiled into the ravine to retrieved her. Donald Manford fell ill and collapsed while counting of votes continued on Thursday. The newly re-elected councillor said the “shock of the result” overwhelmed him and his health took a hit.
The Barra and South Uist candidate however received treatment from Paramedics who were called to the Stornoway counting centre.
