The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs have projected Nigeria to be the world’s third most populous country by the year 2049, according to a report released
The report, titled ‘World Population Prospects: The 2017 Revision’, said with such development, Nigeria who is currently the world’s 7th most populous Nation would overtake the United States.
With a population which currently stands at over 180 million, Nigeria is not only the most populous Nation in Africa, she’s also the giant of Africa. The report said “by 2050, the third most populous country will be Nigeria and which is certainly poised to replace the United States.
Nigeria is also among 10 largest countries of the world. “Consequently, the population of Nigeria is projected to surpass that of the United States shortly before 2050, at which point it would become the third largest country in the world” says the report
