Contrary to popular belief that women are the ones on the receiving end of a chaotic relationship, a study has found that it is men who suffer the most. It is often normal for men to put on a brave face to patch up their ego, pretend the blow didn’t hit below the belt, they might even carry on watching the football match, go out for drinks with friends, but all that act is more likely to have a greater impact on their mental wellbeing. On the other hand, women will display their emotions in the open, cry on every shoulder they find, send bombastic messages, they will amplify their depression, express their low mood, loose their appetite, hide under the duvet cover, but the one thing they will not do is hide their feelings, that way, unlike their male counterpart, they are not storing up negative emotions. Professor Robin Simon who led the study says the result turns the narrative that women are more vulnerable to the emotional stress of relationship breakdowns.
